WALSENBURG MINING MUSEUM (WALSENBURG, COLORADO)

“Follow the battles between the coal miners and mine operators in the two-story stone jail built in 1896 and now housing mining displays.  Fifty fur men, women and children were killed in 10 days during labor disputes.  Learn the Walsenburg story of Bob Ford, killer of outlaw Jesse James, and Mary “Mother” Jones, labor leader, and “the most dangerous woman in America”.  Open  jail cells to see the artifacts of the coal mining era. Outside, the bronze statue stands atop a memorial inscribed with local miners” names.”
